New to the blogging world, but an avid writer, Nathan is a former CSU Northridge graduate, where he received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology. Since then, Nathan has been doing volunteer work across different hospitals. Nathan has dedicated his efforts towards helping people at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, Companion Hospice, and most recently, at The Midnight Mission, Los Angeles’ oldest homeless shelter.
Nathan hopes to immerse himself in the field of consciousness by writing and reading about neuroscience and consciousness so that one day he can begin to unravel the mysteries of the brain. Moreover, he hopes to delve deeper into the elusive nature of the origin of consciousness. Nathan’s interests are geared towards understanding the link between neuroscience and altered states of consciousness such as meditation, different stages of sleep, and the effects of different mind-altering drugs.
Some of Nathan’s deep rooted passions lie in the realm of more esoteric topics of literature, namely parapsychology. This field entails concepts such as near death experiences (NDE), out of body experiences (OBE), Extrasensory perception (ESP), and Psychokinesis, all topics that have begun to gain a lot of attention in the scientific community. Essentially, Nathan would like to better understand and capture the relationship between modern neuroscience and these metaphysical, yet mystical phenomena.
